Catch up!

Well, folks– it has been many moons since I last posted something here. So, I’m going to catch you all up.
The very short version:
After my Grandmother died, I had a bit of a hard time. That is, until I met this guy, let’s call him Ben.
At first, Ben was super sweet and incredibly attentive. The first few months were great! It all started to fall apart the first time I told him I loved him.
After that, he began to be more distant, but it was subtle. I didn’t suspect things deeply until his friend, let’s call her Trish, was at his house one day when I arrived from work, and I overheard her telling him on his back patio that she never wanted to meet me.
After that, I noticed when she called (frequently) and texted (frequently). I asked Ben about it and he claimed that she was just a friend.
Over the next few months things got worse. I happened to see a text that she sent him because he left his phone at my place. It was inappropriate. When I asked him about it, he continued to claim that it was nothing and I was being paranoid.
A few months later, and after repeated requests for him to let Trish know that her behavior was inappropriate, I finally had enough and I read through all of her text messages to him. Needless to say, when someone is making jokes about blowjobs and telling your boyfriend how much they love him, something is severely wrong.
When I confronted Ben, he lied. I walked away. He tried to get me back. I walked away again. He tried to get me back again. One Friday, after he had called me that afternoon, I called him late to see what he was doing. Trish was there. I blew up, an awful fight ensued, and, after much commotion which involved me screaming lots, that was the end of that.
Mind you, this is after I had also caught him on Match.com, too.
Some people need their egos stroked constantly, I suppose. Anyhoo– so that is some of the drama that has kept me busy for many moons.
Other drama includes a ton of schoolwork, but I have no complaints about that!
Now that this unpleasantness is out of the way, I will do my best to return to regular, positive programming.
Thanks for reading. That is all for now!

I haven’t posted here in a while because I had a tough spring followed by a tough summer. But a friend of mine invited me to talk about it here:
I hope y’all enjoy it!

It’s that time of year…. the time of year when it can be 10:30 at night and still be 95 degrees outside.
I love Texas– I sincerely do, but August is coming! OH NOES! AUGUST IS COMING! Satan himself will now go on vaca in Hell to get away from the heat.
Spring!

Spring is here! Spring is here! Spring is here!
I know I haven’t had much to say for a few weeks now, but I’m starting to feel a bounce in my step and an overall increase in optimism as my brain absorbs those glorious rays of sunlight from the increasingly long days…
Spring is here!
It will be 76 degrees here today, and there is not a cloud in the sky. Bluebonnets are blooming.
Spring is here!
Chips and salsa, a margarita, and a patio are calling to me. Going for long walks in the fresh air is imperative.
Spring is here!
I’m happy! Yay!

When I lived in NYC, I constantly craved Tex-Mex food. I actually went through a queso withdrawal so bad that I thought I would get the DTs. Of course, there were Mexican food places to tide me over, but they were Mexican and not Tex-Mex (not the same at all!). Dos Caminos and Zarela come to mind. Dos Caminos had a kick ass guac and margarita, but Zarela was the closest to Tex-Mex I ever found.
Well, I just found out that Zarela is closing! I am really sad! Zarela served a rare-cooked skirt steak fajita that was to DIE for! TO DIE FOR! Not only that, but it had an elegant, yet fun atmosphere that reminded me of Mi Cocina here in Dallas.
Delicious food and good times!
Goodbye, Zarela! I hardly knew ye!

Given recent events, I can only conclude that Hell has frozen over and is leaking out onto Texas.
This weather is crazy! Today is the 5th snow day we’ve had this year. The kiddos are happy, but Miss Lydia is not. ![]()

Chickens

I have been stuck in my house for three days because of the Snowpocalypse that has halted all meaningful activity in Dallas until further notice.
In those three days, I have read a multitude of blogs, watched a plethora of movies, gotten half way through “Devil in the White City” by Eric Larson, and done my laundry.
And now it’s time for chickens!
That’s right, folks, I’ve finally gotten bored enough that I must make my own entertainment, and I’ve decided on a chicken parade. But not just any chicken parade, a Silkie chicken parade.
Let the parade begin!
And that concludes the chicken parade! Hope y’all liked it!
